New Schedule III, IV, and V Medications Address Wider Range of Disease States

CULVER CITY, CALIF. Honeybee Health, the accredited online pharmacy that does not take insurance and allows you to choose your generic manufacturer, is now selling select controlled medications, greatly expanding its offerings and bringing the company closer to becoming a one-stop-shop for all customers.

The new medications are schedule III, IV, and V and provide treatment for opioid addiction, anxiety, migraines, hormone replacement therapy, pain, insomnia, diarrhea, and obesity. Specifically, these include the following generic medications:

  • Schedule III: Buprenorphine-Naloxone, Testosterone Cypionate, Butalbital-Aspirin.
  • Schedule IV: Alprazolam, Alprazolam ER, Carisoprodol, Clonazepam, Diazepam, Diethylpropion, Flurazepam, Lorazepam, Lorcaserin, Lorcaserin ER, Modafinil, Temazepam, Tramadol, Tramadol ER, Tramadol/APAP, Triazolam, Zaleplon, Zolpidem, Zolpidem ER, Zopiclone, Phentermine.
  • Schedule V: Lomotil, Pregabalin.

It does not include medications in schedule I (Marijuana) or schedule II (Morphine, Oxycodone, Adderall, Ritalin, and Vicodin).

Although Honeybee Health already sells over 6,000 generic medications in 43 states, controlled substances have a separate licensing requirement as a safety precaution. Controlled substances are defined by the U.S. DEA as any medication that could be abused.

“Branching into controlled substances marks a milestone for Honeybee Health in its mission to become a full-service pharmacy for all customers,” said Dr. Jessica Nouhavandi, lead pharmacist, co-founder, and co-CEO of Honeybee Health. “The range of disease states these medications address include some of the most pressing–such as Suboxone for opioid addiction–and we’re very proud customers will be able to access them at reasonable prices and get the treatment they need.”

In the initial stage, the medications will be sold in 12 of Honeybee Health’s 43 states, although the company plans to expand to its remaining states within the next few months. Until then, customers in Alaska, California, Colorado, Florida, Massachusetts, Nevada, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Wyoming can order the new medications with a proper prescription. Honeybee Health is also adding multiple new steps to ensure the prescription is valid and safely delivered–most notably including that customers will have to sign for their prescriptions upon delivery.

As with many of its medications, Honeybee Health will allow customers to choose their preferred generic manufacturer of the controlled substances, providing information about each manufacturer and details for each pill such as color, shape, and inactive ingredients. This level of information, along with price, is intended to empower customers with knowledge so that they can buy their preferred manufacturer of a given prescription medication.

In addition to the controlled substances, Honeybee Health carries medications for common medical conditions and treatments such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, anxiety, depression, type 2 diabetes, erectile dysfunction, birth control, STI/STD medications, hormone replacement therapy, and others. The pharmacy buys only from FDA-approved, U.S. distributors and stands behind the quality of all the listed manufacturers. The manufacturers sold on Honeybee Health’s website reflect the reality of the global supply chain and include FDA-approved manufacturers from all around the world, including in Israel, India, Germany, China, Canada, and countless other countries.

Honeybee Health does not accept insurance and is often able to offer customers prices lower than most copays or coinsurance. The fair prices are possible because Honeybee Health purchases medication directly from wholesale distributors and is able to find the lowest prices for every drug. This eliminates the multiple layers of companies, pharmacy benefit managers, and others that significantly inflate prices to produce their individual profits.

Honeybee Health is listed in every electronic prescription system used in the United States. Customers can simply have their doctor select Honeybee Health to have the prescription filled or they can have the prescription transferred to Honeybee Health, just as they would when changing pharmacies.

Honeybee Health was founded in 2017 by Dr. Jessica Nouhavandi and Peter Wang.  For more about Honeybee Health, visit www.honeybeehealth.com, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
