We don’t. At Honeybee, our mission is to create the exact opposite of a chain pharmacy experience. That means no more lines. No crazy insurance copays. In fact, no insurance requirements at all. No more low-quality meds. We seek to bring a radical level of transparency to prescription medications so that you can make the best choice for you, not for some insurance broker in a highrise.
A letter from our founders
“We used to run a small, family-owned pharmacy in our California hometown. There, we knew all of our patients—their names, their birthdays, their kids, their pets. But no matter how much we cared about our patients, many still left the counter unable to afford their medications because of high co-pays. Others got their meds, but at the cost of other essentials for their families.
As pharmacists, we couldn’t stand by and do nothing. That’s when we set out to create Honeybee, a completely new type of pharmacy that doesn’t require insurance. In fact, medication prices are often much lower without it. We believe our patients should feel empowered and celebrated for taking care of their health, not trapped by complicated insurance plans and rising deductibles.
Insurance companies, Big Pharma, and other industry middlemen hate us for building Honeybee. Good! We want them to. That means we’re doing the right thing.
And we won’t stop until we’ve built a world where no one has to choose between food and medicine again.
