  • Niacin ER, generic name for Niaspan, is used to treat high cholesterol.

  • Common side effects of Niacin ER include flushing, headache, tingling sensation, itching, nausea, vomiting, and heartburn.

  • Niacin ER can be taken in the morning or the evening and should be taken after a meal to reduce flushing and nausea.
  • Recommended daily dose is 1 to 3 grams.

  • Possibly.  Some studies suggest that daily intake of Niacin can improve symptoms of erectile dysfunction, but there is no solid evidence supporting this.
