Common side effects include dizziness, lightheadedness, headache, dry mouth and water retention in the hands and feet. You may also experience fast beating of the heart.
What are the long term effects of Amlodipine?
Few studies show long term use of Amlodipine can cause heart failure, but there is very little evidence to support this.
How do I take Norvasc?
- Amlodipine 2.5mg, 5mg, or 10mg is taken just once a day with or without food.
What are the benefits of taking Norvasc?
Taking Amlodipine can lower your blood pressure and also help angina or chest pain by widening the blood vessels resulting in better blood flow.
Can you gain weight from Norvasc?
Weight gain is unlikely in patients taking Amlodipine, but it’s possible.
Can you drink alcohol while taking Norvasc?
You should avoid or drink alcohol in moderation while taking Amlodipine.
Drinking alcoholic beverage will not directly affect amlodipine, however, it can intensify side effects such as lightheadedness, dizziness, and sleepiness. Alcohol can also increase blood pressure.
